Name and Location
Thaduna/Green Dragon copper project, Australia.

Client
Ventnor Resources.

Project Description
A scoping study completed at the Thaduna/Green Dragon copper project, located near Meekatharra, in Western Australia, has confirmed the economic and technical viability of the project.

The project has a Joint Ore Reserves Committee-compliant resource of 142 000 t of contained copper and 945 000 oz of contained silver.

The scoping study envisages mining from two opencut operations – Thaduna and Green Dragon – followed by underground mining at Thaduna. It further confirms that a processing plant using 500 000 t/y of flotation is the most appropriate processing route, producing high recoveries, high concentrate grades and ultralow impurities.

Value
$70-million.

Duration
The aim is to bring the project into production in the second half of 2014.

Latest Developments
Based on the results of the scoping study, Ventnor plans to immediately start a bankable feasibility study (BFS), with results expected in the third quarter of this year.

The BFS will further focus on detailed mine planning, metallurgical testwork, processing options, confirmed contract rates and operating-cost reduction initiatives. Ventnor is appointing a study team.

In addition, deeper drilling is under way at the project and will be included as part of the BFS. Ventnor aims to extend the current Jorc resource to between 175 000 t and 200 000 t of contained copper.

On Budget and on Time?
