Transnet Freight Rail (TFR) has shut down some rail lines leading from Witbank and Phalaborwa to the ports of Richards Bay and Maputo from June 12 to 23 for yearly maintenance.

The closure of the lines has affected traffic along the N4 highway between Ngodwana and Waterval Boven.

TFR advised the public to use the alternative route of Schoemans Kloof to avoid delays.
