Mintails Limited  (0.04 MB)

Mintails Ltd wishes to acknowledge that it has received notification of suspension by the Department of Mineral Resources in terms of its hard rock and open pit operations. Management has therefore suspended operations at its open pit operations pending assessment of the contents of the notice and addressing the issued contained therein.

While the company believes it has been compliant with all relevant regulations, it will continue to work with the DMR and officials to ensure full compliance in accordance with the relevant sections of the Mineral and Petroleum Resources Development Act and the Mine Health and Safety Act as per the notices issued by the Department officials.

Mintails will continue to process available stockpiled material as well as tailings as these operations do not fall within the suspension notification of hard rock mining operations. The company takes compliance and its corporate responsibility seriously and is optimistic that it will be able to resume operations with a minimal delay.

Mintails is also aware of the application of a semi-urgent court interdict being applied for by the Premiere of Gauteng. It is a legal matter and as such will be dealt with by our attorneys who have been instructed to defend the action. The application has further linked The Minister of Mineral Resources and Minister of Department of Water Affairs and as such we are unable to add additional comment presently.
