Telkom’s Wholesale unit has implemented a register to further guide the roll-out of its new very-high-bit-rate digital subscriber line (VDSL) broadband offerings of up to 20 Mb/s and 40 Mb/s.

The VDSL high-speed broadband products were launched this month – after an extensive pilot – into selected regions in Gauteng, the Western Cape and KwaZulu-Natal.

Telkom is expected to initially roll the products out to the street distribution cabinet sites that underwent network upgrades over the past few months, in Benmore Gardens, Fourways, Waterkloof, Durban North and Durbanville.

The extent of the coverage is expected to increase as Telkom continues its roll-out nationally.

However, the new interactive Interest and Demand Register application, available on Telkom’s website, is expected to validate the current roll-out plan, influence – where possible – the priorities of the plan to accom-modate customer needs and record the areas of high demand.
