PERTH (miningweekly.com) – The Kentish Council and the Environmental Protection Authority of Tasmania have given approval for ASX-listed junior BCD Resources and its joint venture (JV) partners to develop the Stormont gold project.

The Stormont deposit lies on an exploration licence jointly held by Torque Mining and Frontier Resources. BCD entered into a 50:50 JV with these companies to develop the project, and acts as manager and operator of the Stormont project.

The project was expected to produce 12 100 oz of gold, which would be processed at BCD’s processing facility at Beaconsfield.

The company said on Friday that project activities would start immediately, with ore processing expected to start in early November.
