Taking the danger out of dangerous goods
Company Announcement - When a vehicle carrying dangerous goods is involved in an accident the cost can extend into the millions. Even if you were wise enough to get insurance to protect your company in the event one of your dangerous goods vehicles has an accident, this cost can still be debilitating to both your company and the economy. If your dangerous goods vehicle crashes, the effects are far-reaching. Your driver and others involved in the accident could be seriously injured or even killed. The truck transporting the goods may be off the road until it can be repaired, or more likely replaced. Roads are closed until the spillage can be cleaned and you will be responsible to foot the bill for this. Bad publicity for your company is also often an inevitable side-effect of such an accident.
An essential part of the responsible transport of dangerous goods is driver training and the onus to ensure drivers are adequately trained lies on the employer. The Managing Director of MasterDrive, Eugene Herbert, says as a natural progression to their revolutionary rollover prevention training, they introduced training for drivers of dangerous goods vehicles. The training is TETA approved and meets international standards of similar training.
Drivers will learn what makes a dangerous goods vehicle more vulnerable to accidents. “The training provides practical information on how to avoid accidents when transporting these goods. Drivers will get hands on understanding how easy it is for a mistake to happen.”
If you are involved in the transport of dangerous goods, consider training your drivers with MasterTrucker a division of MasterDrive. They have the tools necessary to give your drivers the skills to avoid dangerous situations. Give them a call on 086 110 0618.
