Project Description
Springsure Creek will be an underground thermal coal project, located along the western margin of the Bowen basin.
The project will be developed in stages.
Stage 1 will comprise a single longwall to produce 5.5-million tons a year, while Stage 2 will result in the establishment of a second longwall and supporting infrastructure to produce a combined total of 11-million tons a year.
Value
Stage 1 will cost an estimated A$743-million to develop, while Stage 2 is expected to add A$437-million to the project’s total cost.
Duration
Production is scheduled to begin in the first half of 2015.
Latest Developments
Bandanna is continuing discussions with potential joint venture parties with regard to a strategic investment in the project.
Further, Bandanna has submitted the Springsure Creek draft environmental-impact statement (EIS) to the Queensland government. Following government review, it is expected that the public submission period for the draft EIS will begin in the first quarter of 2013.
