JOHANNESBURG (miningweekly.com) – BHP Billiton spin-off, South32, on Monday confirmed the appointment of several nonexecutive directors.

Frank Cooper, Peter Kukielski, Futhi Mtoba and Wayne Osborn would become nonexecutive directors of the Perth-based mining company, effective May 7, while Xolani Mkhwanazi would step in effective July, following a transition from BHP Billiton.

Keith Rumble would retire from the BHP Billiton board to take up a board appointment at South32 from May 22.

As previously reported, South32 president and COO-designate Mike Fraser would head up the regional head office and global shared services centre in Johannesburg, while his Australian counterpart, Ricus Grimbeek, would run the Australian division of the newly formed company.

BHP Billiton would cease trading with an entitlement to South32 shares on May 15 on the Australian, London and Johannesburg stock exchanges.

South32 shares would commence trading on a deferred settlement basis on the ASX, normal settlement basis on the JSE and on a when-issued basis on the LSE, on May 18.
