Name and Location
South Galilee coal project (SGCP), Queensland, Australia.

Client
The project is a joint venture between AMCI and Bandanna Energy’s subsidiary, Alpha Coal.

Project Description
The SGCP is a proposed opencut and underground coal mining operation, with an estimated mine life of about 35 years – two years for construction and 33 years for operations.

Over the life of the mine, the SGCP aims to produce an estimated 447-million tonnes of product coal for the export market.

Further exploration might extend the life of the mine.

The coal mining operations will include:
• opencut and underground mining within mining lease application 70453, producing up to 19-million tonnes a year of run-of-mine coal and 17-million tonnes a year of product coal for the export market;
• the placement of waste rock and rejects in out-of-pit waste rock emplacements;
• the progressive backfilling of the openpits with waste rock and rejects as mining develops;
• the development of a mine water management system, including clean-water drainage channels, saline and waste-rock water runoff collection, sediment dams, pit water management, on-site water reuse procedures and a permanent diversion of Sapling Creek;
• an underground services area;
• a mine industrial area, containing an administration building, a bath house, storage, vehicle parking, workshops, washdown and refuelling facilities, as well as controls and communication infrastructure;
• a coal handling and preparation plant;
• coal handling infrastructure, including conveyor systems, raw coal and product coal stockpiles;
• the development of a mine access road, on-site haul roads and light vehicle roads;
• the construction of an on-site rail component, including a loading loop, breakdown and fuel sidings;
• the construction of a SGCP rail spur component to connect to the common user rail component;
• an on-site accommodation village;
• fuel, oil and explosives storage facilities;
• soil stockpiles, laydown areas and a gravel borrow pit;
• raw water supply infrastructure such as a pipeline, groundwater bores and a raw water dam;
• sewage and wastewater treatment infrastructure;
• an on-site landfill facility;
• electrical and telecommunications infrastructure;
• ongoing rehabilitation;
• ongoing exploration activities within existing exploration tenements; and
• other associated minor infrastructure, plant, equipment and activities.
