Silver Lake production dips as mills close
PERTH (miningweekly.com) – Gold miner Silver Lake Resources has reported a significant drop in gold production after its Murchison and Lakewood mills were placed on care and maintenance in July this year.
Earlier this month, Silver Lake announced that it would sell its Lakewood mill assets in a deal worth A$5.5-million, while the Murchison mill was subject to a ten-month dry hire lease that would generate about A$7.9-million in revenue.
During the three months to September, the Western Australia-focused Silver Lake milled some 348 400 t of ore, at a grade of 2.6 g/t gold to recover 29 531 oz of gold, compared with the 44 523 oz recovered from 689 109 t of ore in the three months to June.
Group gold sales for the quarter under review declined to 31 469 oz, compared with the 43 886 oz sold in the June quarter.
At the Mount Monger operations, in Western Australia, Silver Lake sold 29 259 oz of gold during the quarter, compared with the 36 739 oz sold in the previous quarter, while sales from the Murchison operation declined to 2 210 oz, from the 7 147 oz sold in the previous quarter.
Meanwhile, preproduction activities started in July at the Wombola Dam openpit operation, which forms part of the Mount Monger operations, and production was initiated in September.
The project delivered 1 142 oz during the quarter under review, which was accounted for in the Mount Monger sales figures.
Evaluations were also in progress for the Rumbles and Lucky Bay deposits for near-term openpit production opportunities, and for the Maxwells underground operation.
