Siemon and AST webinar on pre-fabricated and modular data centres
Pre-fabricated and modular data centres are the subject of an industry webinar to be hosted by Siemon, the global network infrastructure specialist, in collaboration with AST, a leading provider of modular, secure and energy efficient data centres. It is the latest in Siemon’s educational series, designed to cover a broad range of industry topics for those in the African IT market, from copper and fibre structured cabling to optimised data centre design. The hour-long session is entitled “Pre- fabricated and modular data centres. What are the benefits?” Available free to pre-registered participants, this webinar will be held at 1400GMT on 4 December 2013.
Leading the webinar, host Alberto Zucchinali, data centre solutions and services manager for EMEA at The Siemon Company will introduce the subject and hand over to AST speaker, Sergio Verano, business development director - West Europe. Together they will talk through a detailed TCO (total cost of ownership) analysis of prefabricated and modular data centres, as compared to those of traditional construction. The advantages of prefabrication will be discussed and reasons offered to explain why a growing number of organizations are embracing modularity.
Return on investment will be scrutinised during the webinar, with both CapEx and OpEx being evaluated. Time to market will be also be considered, as will the risk profile of newer, pre-fabricated and modular approaches to data centre design, build and deployment. Siemon will also illuminate the technical standard of network cabling included, explaining the performance profile of the embedded infrastructure.
To bring the subject to life and offer real world experiences, case studies will be introduced: The first concerns a major airline’s enterprise application of modular data centres for rapid roll out, followed by how a global corporation in the oil industry has used modular data centres for deployment in remote locations.
“Our free webinar series is designed to provide up-to-date information in a flexible and convenient format,” explains David Wall, global integrated marketing manager at Siemon. “As part of Siemon’s commitment to keeping industry professionals and their customers informed, these interactive educational webinars will highlight a variety of the latest technologies, applications and standards for anyone looking to enhance and expand their knowledge.”
A live question and answer session at the end of the webinar will allow participants to interact with the presenters and get the information that they specifically need. All Siemon webinars will be archived for participants to select and review previously recorded sessions at any time. These recordings will also be made available to those that are unable to log in on the day itself.
