Shree halts ore production at Nelson Bay River
PERTH (miningweekly.com) – Iron-ore miner Shree Minerals has temporarily suspended mine development and mining activities at its Nelson Bay River iron-ore project, in Tasmania, as part of its mine scheduling efforts.
The ASX-listed junior said on Friday that the mine scheduling was aimed at adjusting output to deliver an efficient balance through the company’s ore supply.
These measures included changes to certain parts of the production chain, which included waste stripping and ore production.
Shree said that the company was also working with various stakeholders to optimise costs in its export chain and in the interim, the scheduling of other parts of production chain would be adjusted to fit operational and business needs.
The Nelson Bay River project consists of an openpit magnetite and hematite mine, that would produce four-million tons a year of ore over a ten-year life-of-mine, to produce 150 000 t/y of product.
Shree recently completed its third shipment of ore from the Nelson Bay River project.
