Project Description
Infinity has completed a scoping study on the San José project, based on an integrated underground mine and two-million-tonne-a-year lithium chemical processing facility on site.
The study forecasts average steady-state production of 19 500 t/y lithium carbonate equivalent over 26 years.
Proposed mine will be focused on the areas of mineralisation classified as indicated.
The project has indicated resources, at a 2 500 parts per million lithium cutoff, of 36.8-million tonnes grading 0.35% lithium and 0.72% lithium oxide. Inferred resources are estimated at 28.64-million tonnes grading 0.34% lithium and 0.75% lithium oxide.
Potential Job Creation
Direct employment positions at steady-state production are estimated at 400.
Net Present Value/Internal Rate of Return
The project has a pretax net present value, at a 10% discount rate, of $811.7-million and an internal rate of return of 25.7%, with a payback of 3.2 years.
Capital Expenditure
Preproduction capital expenditure is estimated at $532.2-million.
Planned Start/End Date
Production is tentatively scheduled for mid-2025.
Latest Developments
The feasibility study and front-end engineering design is slated for 2023, with a final investment decision due before mid-2023
