The Prospectors & Developers Association of Canada represents the interests of the Canadian mineral exploration and development industry. The association was established in 1932 in response to a proposed government regulation that threatened the livelihood of Ontario prospectors. 84 years after its founding, the association is a national organization with individual members which includes prospectors, developers, geoscientists, consultants, mining executives, and students, as well as those involved in the drilling, financial, investment, legal and other support fields as well as corporate members representing mining companies and organizations or providing services to the mineral industry.
The PDAC exists to promote a responsible, vibrant and sustainable Canadian mineral exploration and development sector and encourages leading practices in technical, environmental, safety and social performance in Canada and internationally. The annual PDAC International Convention, Trade Show & Investors Exchange is the world’s leading Convention for people, companies and organizations in, or connected with, mineral exploration with over 1,000 exhibitors and 23,500 attendees from over 100 countries, over and above the exhibition technical sessions, short courses and networking events are also being held.
HAZLETON PUMPS will be sending a HIPPO Submersible Slurry Pump to the PDAC Exhibition in March 2016 as part of a working model. The working model consists of a solids separation system in which the slurry submersible pump is used to pump slurry through a cyclone which then separated the solids from the liquid.
The main focus would be to demonstrate the ability of the HIPPO Slurry Submersible pump to handle liquids containing abrasive solids mimicking the conditions that would typically be found in mining applications as well as the separation of solids from the liquids so as to simplify the pumping system used underground. At present separation dams are used of which the cost is much higher compared to that of using a cyclone in the separation process.
