Pan African risk management consulting firm Salama Fikira will exhibit at this year’s Investing in African Mining Indaba, at the Cape Town International Convention Centre, from February 3 to 6.

“Last year, we sent our operations manager to the conference as a regular delegate. He believed that it would be worthwhile for the company as a whole to attend the indaba in 2014, as it would be the perfect place to showcase the services we offer,” Salama Fikira new frontiers business development executive Jonty van Zeller tells Mining Weekly.

He says the company’s management team is growing in experience and believes that the mining industry is becoming increasingly interested in Salama Fikira’s services, which include operational and feasibility assessments, logistics solutions, operational support, project management, risk assessments, support solutions and infrastructure security solutions.

Van Zeller says the indaba will provide the company with opportunities to reconnect with existing clients and attract new clients.

“We do not have any specific targets in terms of securing new contracts and clients. Salama Fikira’s management goal for the indaba is to gain maximum exposure for the company during the event by exhibiting our services and networking with conference delegates,” he states.

The company’s exhibition delegation consists of two senior-management members and one member of the business development division, says Van Zeller.

He adds that the company is looking forward to hearing from the various mining firms and African governmental offi- cials who are scheduled to speak at the event.

According to Salama Fikira’s website, it recently assisted one of its mining explor- ation clients in Kenya by providing operational support and project man-agement through liaising with local government and the client’s operation.

Additionally, Salama Fikira helped with its client’s security assessment and the implementation of the assessment findings.

Salama Fikira also assisted the exploration company with the logistical resupply of equipment and materials from Johannesburg, in South Africa, and Mwanza, in Tanzania, to Nairobi, in Kenya.

The company also managed the project’s construction of base infrastructure and implemented a health, safety, security and environmental system, as well as staff training.
