A power outage which occurred in the City of uMhlathuze, or Richards Bay, between the afternoon of August 12 and the early hours of August 13 has impacted on State-owned Transnet Freight Rail’s (TFR's) services in the area.

The outage meant that the Richards Bay Coal Terminal was unable to offload trains for about ten hours, resulting in a 50% wagon capacity for Friday’s production plan.

A catch-up will be done over a few days, and a revised plan has been communicated to impacted customers, TFR said on August 13
