India’s leading blast hole drill manufacturer enters the African Market  

Revathi Equipment Limited (REL) is India’s leading manufacturer of high power range of blast hole drills for mining and construction, water well, exploratory drill rigs, and allied products for more than four decades. 

Founded in 1977 as Revathi CP Equipment limited the Indian Unit of US based drill rig and compressor manufacturer Chicago Pneumatics. In 1987 REL was acquired by Swedish multinational Atlas Copco. 

The company was under the umbrella of Atlas Copco for almost fifteen years, In the year 2002, the Delhi-based Renaissance Group owned by Mr. Abhishek Dalmia acquired the company. Since its inception, REL has supplied more than 2000 drills and has 50% market share in India with customers being the largest coal mining company Coal India Limited, Tata Steel, NMDC, Vedanta to name a few. REL has also sold drills to mining companies in Australia, Brazil, Indonesia, Jordan, Morocco, South Africa, Serbia, Tunisia, USA, and Zimbabwe.

In 2003 US based drill and dragline major Bucyrus Erie collaborated with REL to design and manufacture drill rigs in India. The 33HR, 35HR, 37HR models were designed and built in India and sold under Bucyrus Erie’s brand name throughout the world with customers Anglo American, OPC, Vale, and Kinross. This partnership ended with CAT acquiring Bucyrus. In 2020 REL collaborated with well-known autonomous drilling solutions provider Flanders Electric to manufacture autonomous drills Paramount Equipment represents REL in the Southern and Sub Saharan Africa with offices and service facilities in South Africa, Botswana, Zambia, DRC, and Ghana. REL has also recently entered a partnership with Basil Read Mining’s subsidiary Blasting and Excavating to supply them with Remotely operated Autonomous drills.
