Renascor flags higher yields at Siviour
PERTH (miningweekly.com) - ASX-listed Renascor Resources has flagged higher yields and higher prices for its Siviour purified spherical graphite (PSG) product.
The company on Friday noted that commercial-scale testing of downstream milling equipment, using the Siviour graphite concentrate, had delivered spherical graphite yields of more than 60%, which was compared with the 50% yield considered in the battery anode material study.
Locked cycle tests have also confirmed the ability to exceed lithium-ion battery anode purity specifications, with results reaching up to 99.99% carbon, compared with the industry standard of 99.95%.
”Our team continues to make great progress in rapidly advancing the development of the Siviour battery anode material operation and moving closer to Renascor’s objective to become a world leader in the sustainable production of a 100% Australian-made graphite product for use in lithium-ion battery anodes,” said MD David Christensen.
“These favourable results come at a time of increasing demand for battery anode materials and strong growth in the price of PSG.”
Renascor in August flagged plans to increase production at its battery anode material operation after striking a strategic cooperation agreement and offtake memorandum of understanding (MoU) with South Korean major POSCO.
With the POSCO MoU, the company has now executed and announced offtake MoUs covering up to 60 000 t/y of PSG, compared to Renascor’s current Stage 1 PSG production capacity of approximately 30 000 t/y of PSG.
To fulfil the increased offtake volume requirements, Renascor has started feasibility work to facilitate an increase in Stage 1 PSG production capacity and a Stage 2 expansion.
