PERTH (miningweekly.com) – ASX-listed Renaissance Minerals has reported a Joint Ore Reserves Committee-compliant resource for its Okvau deposit, in Cambodia, of 15.6-million tons at 2.4 g/t, for some 1.2-million ounces of contained gold.

The resource estimate was a 65% improvement on the previous resource estimation and a 33% increase on the gold grade.

“This is a significant achievement for the company,” said MD Justin Tremain on Friday, adding that the project had been acquired less than 12 months ago, with initial drilling only completed in 2012.

“The project is proving to be a very attractive, high-grade project with significant scale. The Okvau deposit covers only a small part of the project area and demonstrates the prospectivity of this unexplored region of Cambodia,” said Tremain.

He added that the results achieved to date have vindicated Renaissance’s belief that the eastern region of Cambodia would evolve into a major new gold province.

Renaissance was currently working to establish a multimillion-ounce gold project at Okvau, and as such was undertaking a 25 000 m reverse circulation drilling programme targeting high-priority prospects within close proximity of the Okvau gold deposit.
