Technicrete’s Double Zig-Zag Interlocks and BondBricks were the pavers chosen by Johan Taljaard of Taljaard Gardens and Paving for the Red Cap Ranch near Carletonville. Known for their durability and strength, the terracotta and grey pavers selected from a range of available colours, have been laid to create an attractive background for the facilities offered by the Ranch.

With tourism outlets having to perhaps look local as well as afar, to entice guests in these tough economic times, the Red Cap Ranch, owned by Tony Franco, is a welcome new addition to the tourist attractions on offer in the North West Province. The Ranch caters for day visitors, for those wanting to celebrate a special occasion using the function halls, or for those booking a thatched chalet for a longer stay.

The paving project at Red Cap Ranch, undertaken by Taljaard Gardens and Paving, began in 2011 and is ongoing as more chalets are built in this popular venue. Two thousand square meters of 60-mm thick, Double Zig-Zag Interlocks in terracotta and grey, were used for the driveways and the areas that would take heavy traffic, for which they are particularly well suited. These blocks combine elegance and economy, while forming a continuous, hardwearing and durable surface overlay in an attractive pattern that complements the rustic thatch of the Ranch’s buildings.

Walkways are paved with BondBricks, again in terracotta and grey. A traditional choice for domestic and commercial walkways, BondBricks are durable and economical, and their crisp outline produces a very neat finish.  At Red Cap Ranch they have been laid in a striking herringbone pattern of alternating lines of colour around the swimming pools, lapa and function rooms, giving the area a smart, clean and well laid-out appearance.

The pavers were supplied by Technicrete in Carletonville and delivered to the site. Technicrete’s Grassouw Vos liaised with Taljaard Gardens and Paving on the project providing the expected excellent service and assistance.

The site, although level, was peppered with large quantities of big rocks that had to be removed. Taljaard Civils, Earthworks and Plant Hire cc, was called on to provide the 12-ton roller and Dezzi Grader needed to ensure that the ground was correctly levelled.

The Technicrete Double Zig Zag’s are ideal for areas such as petrol forecourts, domestic driveways, municipal parking areas, commercial developments, industrial and factory roads, heavy-duty loading bays, suburban streets and container terminals all of which are subject to heavy duty traffic. While the BondBrick offers an economical choice for parking areas, pathways, commercial and domestic surfaces.

Among the attractions Red Cap Ranch offers both adults and children are a put-put course, a go-cart track, a games and pool arcade, as well as a jungle gym, trampoline and jumping castles. The three swimming pools sparkle enticingly, welcoming swimmers of all ages. The Ranch can also accommodate up to 250 people for events of all descriptions
