PERTH (miningweekly.com) – Gold miner Ramelius Resources has reported a maiden resource of 490 000 t, grading 2.5 g/t gold for 39 000 oz of gold at the Blackmans deposit, just north of the Mt Magnet operation, in Western Australia.

The resource estimate was generated from a reverse circulation drilling programme in December and February, as well as drilling carried out by the previous owners of the deposit.

“The Blackmans project has the potential to provide a valuable source of oxide ore for the Mt Magnet operation,” said Ramelius CEO Mark Zeptner, noting that initial scoping work suggested a viable openpit operation.

He added that evaluation and permitting work on the project was already under way with the target of adding Blackmans to the life-of-mine plan in 2016. The company had started heritage and environmental work with a view to gaining all the required permitting for an openpit mining operation.
