The project involves the expansion of Proyecto Riotinto to 15-million tonnes a year.
The expansion plan is designed to upgrade processing facilities to increase copper production to between 50 000 t/y and 55 000 t/y.

Currently, there are more than 400 employees and about 400 contractors permanently working on site.

The installation of the solar plant will not only reduce costs but also make a significant contribution to reducing carbon emissions at the copper mine.
