PERTH (miningweekly.com) – Gold and base metals explorer Prodigy Gold will raise A$12-million through a fully underwritten institutional share placement to fund drilling activities.

The ASX-listed junior will place 100-million shares, at a price of 12c each, to institutional investors under its existing placement capacity.

The placement has been fully underwritten by Canaccord Genuity.

The placement price represents a 20% discount to Prodigy’s closing price on August 20, and a 12% discount to the company’s 15-day volume weighted average share price.

Prodigy on Wednesday said that the placement will significantly strengthen the company’s balance sheet and enable it to undertake aggressive exploration activities at its existing projects, while also funding planned joint venture contributions, as well as progressing acquisition and farm-in opportunities
