A Covid-19 outbreak has been declared at the Brucejack mine, in British Columbia, after the number of positive cases at the mine site rose to 14.

Pretium Resources (Pretivm) previously reported nine positive Covid-19 cases among employees and contractors at the mine.

The company has implemented enhanced outbreak protocols, which include restrictions on travel to, and from, the Brucejack mine camp until site-wide testing and an assessment by BC Northern Health can be completed.

“The health and safety of our workforce and surrounding communities remains our top priority and our primary focus is to support all employees and contractors at the mine site,” said CEO Jacques Perron.

Operations continue at the Brucejack mine.
