JOHANNESBURG (miningweekly.com) – Platinum producers Anglo American Platinum, Impala Platinum and Lonmin said on Friday that wage negotiations between themselves and the Association of Mineworkers and Construction Union (AMCU) would continue on Monday under the auspices of the Council for Conciliation, Mediation and Arbitration (CCMA).

The CMMA had been brokering talks between the union and the companies since January 24, following an AMCU strike, now entering its fifth week.

AMCU continued to demand basic wages of R12 500 a month for entry-level workers; a figure the platinum majors claimed would likely force their closure.
