Project Description
The Pinto Valley mine is a conventional openpit operation, with drilling, blasting, loading and hauling. The mill operation consists of a primary, secondary and tertiary crushing system, six ball mills and a flotation concentration system.

A prefeasibility study (PFS) has increased the proven and probable mineral reserves at the mine to 473.8-million tonnes grading 0.31% copper. The increase in ore reserves will extend mining to 2038 and mineral processing to 2039.

Average life-of-mine copper production in concentrate is estimated at 122.8-million pounds of copper and 1.9-million pounds of molybdenum.

Mill production will increase to 20.4-million tonnes a year in 2017, as a result of improvements in maintenance and operational practices at PV3.
