Project Description
The Phoenix project is located within the Thabazimbi mining rights area.
The proposed project will exploit banded iron formation and remnant high-grade hematite in the area, east of the mined out Vanderbijl area, which has previously been mined underground. The current study considers the establishment of a possible new openpit mine and a new crushing and beneficiation plant to potentially produce 3.4-million tons a year of fine and lump ore.
