LSE-listed Pembridge Resources on Tuesday announced that it would appoint an operator for the Minto mine, in Canada’s Yukon, to allow the company to focus on activities such as new investment opportunities.

The third-party operator would act as the adviser to the Minto general manager and provide direction to senior members of staff on day-to-day operations.

CEO and chairperson Gati Al-Jebouri said that it also became apparent that there were a number of inefficiencies associated with the time zone difference between the UK and Yukon.

“Installing an operator for day-to-day support to Minto management not only aims to improve the efficiencies of operating Minto, but reduces the management costs attributable to Pembridge,” said Al-Jebouri.

Pembridge acquired the Minto mine in June last year and restarted operations in October.

“Pembridge has worked hard to get the mine into production since it was acquired. As I have indicated in previous communications, Pembridge has a three-phase development, the first phase being the strengthening of the finances and operations of Pembridge and Minto,” said Al-Jebouri, adding that the appointment of an operator concluded Phase 1 of the development strategy.
