Name of the Mine
Paulsens mine.

Location
Ashburton basin in the eastern Pilbara region of Western Australia.

Mine Owner/s
Western Australia gold explorer Black Cat Syndicate.

Brief Description
Paulsens is an operational gold mine with historical production of about 75 000 oz/y gold.

Brief History
First production from the mine was achieved in 2005. The mine was placed on care and maintenance in 2017 and acquired by Black Cat Syndicate  in 2022. Gold production restarted in December 2024.

Primary Metals/Minerals
Gold.

Secondary Metals/Minerals
Not indicated.

Geology/Mineralisation
Paulsens is a narrow vein orogenic gold deposit hosted in the Wyloo dome within the Ashburton basin.

Mineralisation is hosted in quartz-sulphide (pyrite, pyrrhotite, chalcopyrite and galena) veins ranging in thickness from a few centimetres to several metres, as well as in semimassive sulphidic shear zones containing milled sulphides (primarily pyrite and chalcopyrite). Most of the mined ore zone at Paulsens is hosted in veins within a highly sheared argillic sandstone/siltstone within a broad shear zone, which forms a subsidiary structure to the regionally extensive Nanjilgardy fault system. A second set of mineralised quartz veins are hosted in tension gash structures within the Paulsens mine gabbro, which is a medium grained gabbro/dolerite sill that intrudes the sedimentary succession.

The mined portion of the Paulsens deposit is hosted in a shear zone that cuts through the Paulsens mine gabbro and offsets the gabbro several tens to hundreds of metres.

Reserves
Total proven and probable reserves were reported at 631 000 t grading 4.3 g/t gold as at October 1, 2025.

Resources
As at October 1, 2025, Paulsens has total mineral resources of 26.79-million tonnes grading 2.9 g/t gold.

Type of Mine
Underground.

Mining Method
The underground mine accessed through a decline at the bottom of a 21-m-deep boxcut developed into the side of the Paulsens Hill, which occurs adjacent to the mine office and milling complex. Underground mining takes place from a decline with level accesses than run south to north with ore drives orientated east to west of the level accesses.

Major Infrastructure/Equipment
The mine includes a 450 000 t/y processing facility, a 128-person camp and other related infrastructure.

Prospects
Mining is continuing to ramp up.
