Project Description
The Parral tailings project is host to a large tailings repository that has remained after more than 300 years of operations at the historical Mina La Prieta silver and base metals mine. The tailings were deposited in two separate areas, referred to as Zone 1 and 2. Inefficiencies in older recovery methods have left significant amounts of gold and silver in the 21.3-million tonnes of tailings, which GoGold plans to recover.
The prefeasibility study (PFS) completed on the project defined a reserve of 35-million silver equivalent ounces and a life-of-mine of 12 years, with an average yearly production of 1.8-million silver equivalent ounces – 1.2-million ounces of silver and 11 000 oz of gold. The mine production is planned at 5 000 t/d of tailings on a conventional heap leach.
