Project Description
Pan is an oxidised gold deposit with a low strip ratio (1.79:1), mineable by openpit methods and treatable by heap leaching. These parameters result in a low capital expenditure project with favourable economics. The mine plan used in the feasibility study is based on producing 17 000 t/d of ore over an eight-year period. Gold recoveries are estimated at about 75% and production at more than 81 000 oz/y of gold.

Value
The capital costs to build the mine are estimated at $99-million, which includes $8.2-million in working capital and $6.8-million in contingency.

Duration
Construction was expected to begin before the end of 2013. Production from the mine is expected in 2014.

Latest Developments
Midway has awarded EPC Services Company the contract to design, supply and install the substation and site power distribution for the Pan gold project. The longer lead-time transformers are expected to be completed and ready for delivery in the first quarter of 2014.

Further, Midway has awarded Jacobs Engineering the engineering, procurement and construction management contract (EPCM) to build the Pan mine.
