PERTH (miningweekly.com) – ASX-listed junior explorer Minotaur Exploration and fellow-listed Oz Minerals have jointly launched new ground electromagnetic (EM) geophysical surveys near the Prominent Hill copper/gold mine, in South Australia.

The EM survey will assess sections of the Skylark shear zone across areas ranging between 10 km and 25 km from the mining operations.

Previous work conducted by Minotaur established that the Skylark shear zone was prospective for iron-oxide copper gold and iron-sulphide copper gold styles of mineralisation, with drill core from the Bellatrix target reporting several intervals of anomalous copper.

The new EM survey is expected to take some eight weeks to complete.

Minotaur and Oz Minerals are each contributing A$1.5-million to proof test targets for base metal mineralisation at the Mt Woods exploration tenements, in the Prominent Hill area.

In 2016, a review of the exploration database and subsequent geophysical surveys led to initial drill testing at Bellatrix, Jupiter and Orion, and in 2017, the search honed in on the Skylark shear zone.
