Name of the Project
Oxley potassium project.

Location
The project is located south-east of the Port of Geraldton, in Western Australia.

Client
Centrex Metals.

Project Description
A scoping study for a start-up potassium nitrate fertiliser operation at Oxley has demonstrated globally competitive economic potential.

The operation is based on current inferred mineral resources that include 38-million tonnes at 10% potassium oxide at a 9% cutoff, from a total of 155-million tonnes at 8.3% potassium oxide at 6% cutoff.

The scoping study proposes that potassium feldspar ore be mined from an opencut series of shallow pits, selectively mining higher-grade ore from the larger-scale deposit using a small fleet of 90 t haul trucks.

The ore will be crushed and ground to P80 150 μm using a dry circuit to reduce moisture in the furnace.

The ore, along with salt, will be roasted to convert the potassium feldspar to soluble potassium chloride for hot water leaching and filtration.

Jobs to be Created

Net Present Value/Internal Rate of Return
Not stated.

Value
Centrex has been advised not release the cost estimates of financial results of the study based on the inferred mineral resources until indicated mineral resources have been defined on the project.

Duration
Not stated.

Latest Developments
A prefeasibility study (PFS) has started with targeted completion in 2017 for a start-up potassium nitrate operation and a second-stage large-scale expansion into bulk potassium fertilisers.

The PFS will not only consider a start-up potassium nitrate fertiliser operation but also include a second stage expansion into the bulk potassium fertiliser market.

The PFS is expected to be completed by the end of 2017.

Key Contracts and Suppliers
None stated.

On Budget and on Time?
