TORONTO (miningweekly.com) – Quebec-based Osisko Mining late on Friday announced that it had received statements of offence relating to building activities carried out in 2010 in connection with the construction of its ‘green wall’, in the Town of Malartic.

Uncontested, the statements would total about $389 000 in imposed fines.

“While Osisko would work with the authorities towards resolution of these statements of offence, the company is seeking advice from its counsel in order to fully protect its rights,” the firm stated.

The company affirmed that it believed that all construction activity related to the green wall was carried out under best practices to minimise the impact of the mine construction on the residents of Malartic.

Mining operations were said to be unaffected.
