The Operation Winter Warm  (0.07 MB)

On June 25 and 26, members of the Ahmed Kathrada Foundation Youth Leadership Programme will be conducting their annual Operation Winter Warm project. The youth will collect blankets, clothing, non-perishable food items and books from residents during the door to door campaign. These will be handed over to the less fortunate in collaboration with the Gift of the Givers Foundation. This year, the project is set to have key drop off points in areas in Lenasia, Lenasia South, Roshnee, Soweto and Sandton.

“The Operation Winter Warm campaign is run by the youth from planning all the way to execution. We hope that they will develop both a selfless approach as well as a sense of volunteerism that will lead them to becoming activists in their own communities,” said the Foundation’s Youth Programmes Coordinator, Busisiwe Nkosi.

Members of the community are welcome to make donations at these venues:
• Lenasia (Rising Sun) 164 Rose Avenue, Extension 3
• Lenasia Glass House, Lenasia Cricket Stadium
• Lenasia South, 1144 Lancaster Street, Extension 1 (Gibson Pillay Learning Academy)
• Roshnee, 7 Salaamit Street, Dadaville
• Soweto, 8371 Twala Street, Phefeni
• Sandton, Crawford College Benmore Gardens

For more information about Operation Winter Warm or to volunteer, contact the Kathrada Foundation on 0118540082.
