OMH hits production targets in June Q
PERTH (miningweekly.com) – Manganese miner OM Holdings (OMH) on Monday reported increased production from its Bootu Creek operation, in the Northern Territory, as well as record quarterly ferromanganese production at its Qinzhou plant, in China, for the three months to June.
During the quarter under review, manganese production at the Bootu Creek mine reached 208 183 t, compared with the 190 071 t produced in the previous corresponding period.
Half-year production reached 403 790 t, OMH reported.
The miner said on Monday that the June quarter saw a significant increase and improvement in the total materials movement as the company continued to reap the benefits of its owner operated fleet, with improved availabilities, use and efficiencies.
At the Qinzhou smelter, OMH reported that production for the three months to June reached 24 730 t of ferromanganese, while first-half production also achieved a record 46 999 t.
Sinter ore production during the quarter also reached 66 761 t.
OMH told shareholders on Monday that the Qinzhou plant remained on track to meet its production guidance of 80 000 t of ferromanganese during the full year, along with some 250 000 t of sinter ore.
Meanwhile, construction of Phase 1 of the Sarawak operation, in Indonesia, was 30.5% complete at the end of the June quarter, with the project on schedule to start commissioning in the second quarter of 2014.
The project is expected to produce some 575 000 t/y of ferroalloys, consisting of 265 000 t/y of manganese ferroalloys and 310 000 t/y of ferrosilicon alloys, in addition to 300 000 t/y of sintered manganese ore.
