Norton sets new production record
PERTH (miningweekly.com) – Gold miner Norton Gold Fields has again set production records, this time reporting a record quarterly gold production of 44 606 oz for the three months to September.
In July this year, the miner smashed its interim production records, producing 85 517 oz in the first six months of the year.
“Norton is once again pleased to deliver above plan production and cost results. Our team has worked hard to consolidate our performance to deliver the third consecutive quarter of improved safety, production and cost results,” said MD and CEO Dianmin Chen.
For the year-to-date, Norton has produced 130 132 oz of gold, with the miner maintaining its production forecast of between 154 000 oz and 162 000 oz
During the three months to September, the Paddington operations shipped 44 241 oz of gold, with year-to-date shipments totalling 129 344 oz. Some 889 332 t of ore were processed at the Paddington mill during the quarter under review, while more than 2.6-million tonnes were processed during the nine months to September.
Mining was completed at the Navajo Chief opencut mine, with the deposit delivering some 212 000 oz of gold during its 42-month mine life. Mining was also undertaken at the Enterprise and Golden Flag opencut mines.
C1 cash costs for the three months under review reached A$900/oz, while year-to-date cash costs were recorded at A$987/oz.
Chen said on Wednesday that with the commissioning of Norton’s owner mining fleet, the company expected to continue to realise cost benefits in the months ahead.
