Norton production surges in 2013
PERTH (miningweekly.com) – Gold miner Norton Gold Fields has exceeded its production expectations for 2013, reporting record gold output of 172 739 oz, compared with the guidance of between 163 000 oz and 167 000 oz.
“We are very pleased to report a strong result for the fourth quarter, resulting in Norton exceeding our 2013 production guidance and achieving record gold production for 2013,” said MD and CEO Dianmin Chen.
The full-year production was also the highest recorded since the Paddington operations were acquired in 2007.
During the three months to December, Norton produced 42 616 oz of gold at a cash cost of A$883/oz.
“Driving the improvement has been increased mill feed grades from across our operations, allowing a strict cost control regime,” Chen said.
During the past 12 months, the company set about reducing its cost and increasing production, with full-year cash costs down to A$960/oz, compared with the expectation of between A$970/oz and A$1 010/oz.
