PERTH (miningweekly.com) – Gold junior Northern Star has further increased the footprint of its Paulsens gold project, in Western Australia, after discovering the nearby Titan deposit.

The Titan mineralisation runs parallel and immediately adjacent to the producing Voyager 1 and Voyager 2 lodes, and was located some 100 m from the existing mine development.

Ten exploration holes have been drilled to date, with eight of these intersecting significant and visibly mineralised quartz, Northern Star said.

MD Bill Beament noted that the initial results showed that Titan had the potential to contribute significantly to the inventory and mine life of the Paulsens project.

“The strength of these results, their close proximity to the Paulsens plant and their relatively shallow depth, make Titan an extremely promising discovery,” Beament noted.

“We have long believed there are substantial discoveries to be made in and around Paulsens, and the Titan find supports that view.”

The Paulsens mine has proven profitable for Northern Star, with the miner earlier this week reporting that production for the full year had increased by 44%, to 103 566 oz.
