JOHANNESBURG (miningweekly.com) – JSE-listed Northam Platinum said it intended to bring the three-week strike at its Zondereinde mine to an end on Wednesday as it continued talks with union representatives.

The company, which completed a review of the disputed productivity bonus scheme, had lost R143-million in revenue and 12 500 oz of metal-in-concentrate production to date.

In excess of 500 rock-drill operators have been going underground and reporting for duty but not drilling since April 2, demanding a 38% increase to their monthly production bonuses.
