PERTH (miningweekly.com) – Mining is set to restart at gold junior Norseman Gold’s Bullen underground mine, in Western Australia, this week, following a fatality at the mine in February.

Norseman last month reported that an employee had been killed in a localised incident, prompting the Department of Mines and Petroleum (DMP) to issue two prohibition notices, and the suspension of all underground operations at the Harlequin and Bullen underground mines.

Operations at the North Royal pit and the mill continued unimpeded.

Norseman reported on Monday that the DMP had lifted the prohibition notices. The DMP's investigation into the fatality was still ongoing and the company said it would continue to cooperate with the department.

Norseman said it was also addressing the outstanding issues in the prohibition notice relating to the Harlequin mine, where underground operations remain suspended.
