Cape Sativa, a newly established biopharmaceutical company with a special focus on pharmaceutical grade cannabis has been launched at this week’s Board of Health Care Funders Conference in Cape Town.

Two specific products have been unveiled - Equivex Aqua 20mg in a 250ml bottle to be followed by Equivex Aqua 10mg in a 500ml bottle.

Equivex Auqua is a nano formulated CBD infused water. The CBD that has been used in Equivex is pharmaceutical grade and has been reformulated using a patented nanotechnology platform that allows full water solubility, 100% bioavailability and clarity of product.

As part of the bigger 3Sixty Global Solutions Group, Cape Sativa is led by a team of experienced healthcare professionals and cannabis experts and is committed to advancing the science of pharmaceutical applications of cannabis.

With a focus on research, development, and patient-centric care, the company aims to be a leading provider of innovative medical cannabis products.

Khandani Msibi, Chairman of Cape Sativa says: "Pharmaceutical cannabis has the potential to transform the way we treat a wide range of medical conditions, from chronic intractable pain, cancer, cardiometabolic disorders to anxiety and depression; we are dedicated to helping patients access safe, effective, affordable and effective cannabinoid-based products, while also advancing the science of cannabis through research and development."

Msibi added that the use of cannabinoid-based products for medicinal purposes is exploding, with potential to impact positively current treatment protocols.

Cape Sativa is developing and evaluating a full range of products as treatments and supportive care targeting diseases such as cancer, epilepsy, tuberculosis, HIV/AIDS, and chronic pain.

He says there are also weight loss water and capsules in the pipeline using Tetrahydrocannabivarin - a compound in cannabis that induces weight loss or prevents weight gain.

Msibi says plans for Cape Sativa include exposure to the US market with an intention of listing the business on the Nasdaq exchange. Cape Sativa was incorporated in the USA for that purpose.

More broadly the 3Sixty Global Solutions Group has played a significant role at this year’s Board of Healthcare Funders annual conference in Cape Town – an event that allows industry cohesion on important emerging industry issues. The annual BHF conference is one of the largest healthcare conventions on the continent.

Msibi says “We believe this event provides a valuable opportunity to collaborate with other leaders in the field and to showcase innovations that can help improve patient care."
