TORONTO (miningweekly.com) – Gold miner Veris Gold Corp on Friday reported a record 18 081 oz output in October from its flagship Jerritt Canyon operations, located in Elko County, Nevada.

During the month, the processing plant averaged 4 015 t/d of Jerritt Canyon ore with an average recovery rate of 86%.

Higher grades, at 0.17 oz/t, compared with 0.15 oz/t in September, significantly contributed to the achievement, highlighting the continued growth and improvements happening at the property.

On October 23, Veris celebrated the official opening of the Saval 4 gold mine. Late in the second quarter, the company restarted the development of Saval 4, the fourth operating underground mine at Jerritt Canyon, and preproduction activities took place in July. Veris planned to mine the Saval 4 using existing equipment and crews at a scheduled mining rate between 250 t/d and 300 t/d, extracting ore grading about 0.2 oz/t.

This grade was about equal to 5.7 g/t.

Further, Veris reported that since agreeing to process refractory ore from ASX-listed Anova Metals’ Big Springs project at its Jerritt Canyon mill complex, Anova planned to deliver its first batches of Big Spring’s ore to the property in June 2015.

Key terms of the toll milling agreement provided for the delivery of up to 1 000 t/d of ore, which would be processed in 25 000 t lots. The Jerritt Canyon processing facility was about 42 km south from the Big Springs project. This would further reduce overall cash costs at Jerritt Canyon resulting in a more profitable operation, Veris highlighted.

Third-quarter results will be issued at the end of November 14.
