Necsa Wins Prestigious ‘Innovation Through Technology’ Award

Company Announcement - The South African Nuclear Energy Corporation (Necsa) has won a prestigious award in the category ‘Innovation through technology’, at the National Business Awards 2014 event held on 05 November 2014 at Emperors Palace in Johannesburg. The event, also known as the Oscars of South African Business, was attended by various sectors of business and industry. The award was accepted by the Chairperson of the Necsa Board of Directors, Ambassador Mochubela Seekoe and Acting CEO Dr Motodi Maserumule, Group Executive of Necsa R&D.

This award clearly demonstrates Necsa’s capabilities in providing South Africa and the world with scientific solutions through the use of nuclear energy and radiation sciences and technology. Necsa’s research provides solutions to some of the most complex scientific challenges and is used in many sectors of industry including agriculture, petrochemicals, electronics and pharmaceuticals, to mention but a few. Ambassador Seekoe said: “Necsa’s Management dedicates this award to all personnel involved in Necsa’s business and operations. We commit to quality, safety and excellence and this award, is a reminder of our constant commitment and pride in what we do.”

Necsa has been active in nuclear technology for more than 50 years and has given rise to some of the world’s finest science and technology facilities such as the SAFARI-1 Research Reactor. Necsa’s commercial subsidiaries serve the local market and also export high quality nuclear products to more than 60 countries.
