Project Description
The Mt Windarra site hosts a total mineral resource of about 9.18-million tons, grading 1.51% nickel for 138 366 t of contained nickel. The project entails the restart of nickel mining and processing operations at the Mt Windarra site, in the North Eastern goldfields of Western Australia.

This includes:
• the restart of nickel mining at the Mt Windarra underground mine;
• the start of nickel mining at the new Cerberus orebody, located on the same tenement package;
• the construction of a nickel flotation concentrator plant capable of a minimum throughput of 700 000 t/y of ore;
• the construction of a gold tailings retreatment facility; and
• the installation of an in-pit tailings deposition by means of a slurry pipeline to South Windarra.

Initial concentrate production is targeted for 2014.

Latest Developments
The Western Australia Premier and State Development Minister, Colin Barnette, has approved Poseidon Nickel’s application to restart mining at the Mt Windarra site.

The final formal approval is subject to Poseidon demonstrating that it has project financing and offtake contracts in place.
