Project Description
The project proposes to expand the throughput and capacity of the Mothae kimberlite mine.
The expansion will increase the processing capacity of the Mothae processing plant from 1.1-million tonnes a year to 1.6-million tonnes a year, resulting in diamond recoveries increasing by about 45%, from 31 000 ct/y to about 44 000 ct/y.
With the addition of another parallel secondary crusher, the capacity of the processing plant could be further increased to 1.8-million tonnes a year. The previous plan included an expansion to 300 t/h, which is not being considered.

Latest Developments
Mothae recorded operational performances in the year ended December 31, 2021, with record volumes processed, carats recovered and sold, and exceptional diamond recoveries. This was notwithstanding the plant downtime to effect the plant expansion in the first quarter and repairing and improving the jaw crusher foundations late in the last quarter of 2021.
