PERTH (miningweekly.com) – ASX-listed Mineral Deposits Limited (MDL) on Monday downgraded its full-year titanium slag production expectations, following unplanned maintenance at its Tyssendal rotary kiln, in Norway, during October.

The company lowered its production guidance to between 185 000 t and 190 000 t, from its previous forecast of 200 000 t.

Sales volume for the 2013 financial year to the end of December would be about 195 000 t, MDL said in its operational review for the September quarter.

The Tyssendal operation sold 70 000 t of titanium slag during the three months under review and produced 46 500 t of the product. This compared with sales of 43 300 t during the previous quarter, and production of 48 600 t.

MDL noted that unplanned maintenance had limited slag production for 18 days during the quarter.
