TORONTO (miningweekly.com) – Gold bull McEwen Mining said operations at its 49%-owned San Jose mine, in Santa Cruz province, Argentina, were halted on Monday, owing to seventy-six employees contracting gastroenteritis.

The company on Tuesday said that there were no further cases reported, all employees had recovered in full and the mine would resume operation shortly.

McEwen Mining did not expect this disruption to have a material impact on its full-year production.

The company’s attributable production from San Jose mine during 2012 totalled 98 117 gold-equivalent ounces, which was equal to 42 026 oz of gold and 2.91-million ounces of silver.

The company’s stock fell by 4.68% to C$2.85 apiece on the TSX on Tuesday.
