Masana Petroleum Solutions and BP Southern Africa have launched a new fleet management solution set to improve operational and cost efficiencies, while reducing fuel fraud for commercial road transport operators of all sizes.

Through a long-standing strategic partnership between the duo, the solutions on offer comprise BP FleetMove Card, BP FleetMove Plus or BP FleetMove Premium, providing a cashless, real-time solution for the control of refuelling and vehicle management for fleet managers through Web portals and mobile applications.

The applications deliver analytics to reduce operational complexity and enhance an organisation’s command over everything, from automated payment to driver management and even collision detection.

“The sheer number of boxes that must be ticked by fleet managers makes the logistics process challenging, time consuming and fraught with risks – the larger the fleet, the greater the stress on managers,” says Masana MD Morena Sithole.

The technology offers a completely cashless solution to fuel fraud by ensuring that all transactions are preauthorised using an online platform, while fleet managers are able to perform route monitoring on any vehicle through a telematics portal, which, in real time, tracks location, speed, angle, engine on/off status and fuel levels.

The flagship BP FleetMove Premium offers the Fuel In Tank (FIT) security feature, where each vehicle is fitted with a fuel level sensing device that allows fleet managers to compare actual fuel tank variances against the fuel volume dispensed at service stations in real time.

This option alerts the fleet manager immediately through an SMS or email should any threshold variance be breached.

When signing up for BP FleetMove Premium, each vehicle in your fleet is fitted with a telematics tracking device that offers vehicle tracking through a Web-based telematics portal. This means Fleet Managers can make operational decisions immediately.

The system replaces virtually all manually captured data and assists with route compliance, as well as provides actual fuel used per trip.

In addition, driver behaviour can also be monitored through a geofencing control, which alerts fleet managers when a vehicle enters or leaves the geographic fence set up for a specific journey.

“A simple tamperproof windscreen tag and global positioning system technology make individual vehicle monitoring, as well as analysis of each vehicle’s entire trip, possible,” Sithole says.

BP FleetMove is supported by three helpdesks, namely the BP helpdesk, which is operational 24/7, as well as Masana and Payment24.

BP FleetMove users also have access to a network of more than 500 BP service stations, complemented by a growing network of Masana partner sites in remote locations that can be easily enabled.

Activation of the partner sites will be driven by customer demand.

“With BP FleetMove, powered by Masana, fleet managers are assured not only of quality fuel but also of an efficient mechanism that takes the hard yards out of managing vehicles,” concludes BP marketing manager Tebogo Mekoa.
