Mango recognized at the World Travel Awards; second major award win this week
Company Announcement - Seychelles: Low-cost airline Mango today chalked up its second major global award this week when the airline was named Africa’s Leading Low-Cost Airline at the World Travel Awards in Seychelles. The awards, now in its 22nd year, seek to recognize excellence in the travel and tourism sector with more than 650 000 industry professionals from around the world casting their vote last year. Seven days ago Skytrax also recognized the airline for the second time in two years as Africa’s top low-cost airline at the World Airline Awards. Mango receives a World Travel Award for the second time, too.
“Bringing home awards,” says Mango spokesperson Hein Kaiser, “is humbling. More so when we are recognized at both the consumer (Skytrax) and travel trade ends of the industry spectrum.” He says that Mango’s ambition to excel at every touch point of its business is an on-going motivation. “Constant and never ending improvement is the cornerstone mantra of our business, the sum of the Mango collective is intent on delivering a consistent and quality low-cost airline experience. This occurs daily across every aspect of our operation.”
The domestic market is over traded and highly competitive. “With two startups entering the market late last year and in early 2015, the current oversupply of capacity on key routes has seen competition intensify greatly. Economic conditions are expected to tighten substantially this year and the relationship between product, price and business stability of airlines may impact the aviation landscape this year,” says Kaiser. “The external recognition received inspires us to further pursue excellence during challenging times as Mango heads toward a decade of flight next year.”
